The Celtic Roots Festival is an exciting new venture designed to celebrate the rich Celtic Heritage we enjoy in the St Catwg ministry area. It includes concerts, pilgrimage walks visiting local churches and ancient monuments on the way, a Holiday Club and Youth Cafe, a Twmpath, and several talks. Find out more on the Festival Website.
This festival is a celebration. It is a celebration of the impact that Celtic culture has had on Wales in particular and the British Isles more generally. It is also a celebration of the impact that the Celtic Saints, who sought to follow Jesus with all their might, had on their own culture and, eventually, on the cultures around them.
The impact of the Celtic Saints was borne out of prayer. Out of faithful, prayerful service in and to the communities around them. Some, like St Issui pursued prayer in isolation, as a hermit on a road through the Black Mountains. Other’s like St Catwg, our Ministry Area’s namesake, pursued prayer in community, starting monasteries which served as centres of prayer in the community, serving its need spiritually and practically.
Prayer Programme
It is our intention that as we, through the Celtic Roots Festival, serve the St Catwg Ministry Area, we also serve them in prayer. We have developed a couple of resources to help you pray and will have a programme of opportunities to pray running alongside the main festival.
See the timetable below for a full list of times.
